There are so many things to do and so little time. The balance of tasks seem to fall into my sphere rather than Heather's but of course that will change as we get more established. Sometimes it is overwhelming but right now I think it is easier for me to put my head down and focus on the task in front of me like clearing brush and clearing land. When we have the kids up there Heather is spending her time keeping the kids engaged which is one of our highest priorities because if they don't like being up there than what is the point?
The previous owner had big dreams and bought it for $6000 or $8000, I can't remember. This was about 20 years ago and my understanding is that he came up a handful of times. The kids didn't like it and although we are talking about the cost of a dollar 20 years ago it is easy to abandon your plans and hold on to the asset and dream for an opportunity in the future. My understanding is that his health took a turn for the worse and it was a dream that was never realized. So try to imagine land that hasn't been used for 20 years. What happens to the brush? Where does the grass go? What got left behind?
Heather and Sammie love to explore and look for clues of what it was like. It is much easier in Spring to explore because by summer the fields are chest high. Then that growth falls to the ground and covers these treasures. Watch Heather and Sammie find some pretty cool stuff.
